Meet Reece: The Expertise Behind Spectabuild
At Spectabuild, our goal is simple — to help you know exactly where you stand.
Leading that commitment is Reece Connor, founder and operator of Spectabuild, bringing more than 20 years of hands-on experience across residential, commercial, infrastructure, remediation, and heritage construction projects throughout New South Wales.
As a trusted building inspector servicing Sydney and NSW, Reece has built his reputation on delivering honest, practical insight across every stage of the construction process — from pre-purchase building inspections and staged construction inspections through to defect reporting, dilapidation reports, and independent contract site management.
Reece’s career has been built from the ground up. Beginning as an apprentice carpenter in 2005, he developed a strong understanding of residential construction through practical, hands-on experience across framing, structural timber works, roofing, finishes, renovations, and defect rectification. Those early years established the technical foundation that continues to shape his approach to building inspections today.
After completing his apprenticeship and Certificate III in Carpentry & Joinery, Reece progressed into leadership roles within the commercial construction industry, working as a Carpenter, Leading Hand, Site Foreman, Construction Supervisor, Site Manager, and Senior Supervisor across a broad range of projects throughout Sydney and NSW. Over the course of his career, he has successfully delivered commercial fit-outs, heritage refurbishments, structural remediation works, luxury residential builds, transport infrastructure upgrades, and large-scale construction projects valued up to $30 million.
Throughout these roles, Reece gained extensive experience managing subcontractors, coordinating complex construction sequencing, enforcing WHS compliance, implementing quality assurance systems, overseeing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), managing defects, and ensuring projects were delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest construction standards.
Reece also spent several years supervising custom knockdown-rebuild homes across Sydney, overseeing every stage of construction from slab preparation and framing through to waterproofing, finishes, defect management, and final handover. This experience provided him with an in-depth understanding of residential construction methodologies, NCC compliance, workmanship standards, and the common issues that can arise during the building process — expertise that now directly benefits his inspection clients.
Most recently, Reece has worked as a Senior Supervisor on some of NSW’s largest infrastructure projects, including Sydney Metro station upgrades and the Parramatta Light Rail. In these roles, he has overseen large multidisciplinary teams, coordinated major station refurbishments, heritage façade reconstructions, structural remediation works, accessibility upgrades, and complex services integration within live operational environments. His experience working across high-risk infrastructure projects has further strengthened his expertise in build sequencing, risk management, stakeholder coordination, compliance, and quality control.
Reece is a fully licensed and highly qualified building professional in New South Wales, combining formal construction qualifications with extensive specialist certifications across building, safety, pest management, and inspection disciplines.

Whether you’re purchasing a property, building a new home, or managing a construction project, Reece provides detailed, easy-to-understand inspection reports, identifies both major and minor defects, and explains exactly what they mean without unnecessary jargon.
From pre-purchase inspections and apartment defect reports to staged construction inspections and independent contract site management, every service is designed to protect your investment and help you make informed decisions with confidence.
For clients undertaking residential or commercial construction, Spectabuild also offers independent contract site management services throughout NSW, helping ensure works align with approved plans, contractual obligations, the National Construction Code (NCC), and industry best practice — reducing the risk of costly mistakes, delays, and compliance issues before they arise.
